Space Exploration and Astronomy

In this class, participants will hear about the early history of our exploration of the universe. We cover ancient astronomy, with an eye towards our relationship with the patterns of the stars above us, and our early understanding of what those stars meant. In addition, we will discuss how science fiction novelists like Jules Verne inspired the early rocket scientists.
